Glyn Jones
Glyn was appointed Chairman in May 2007. He has been a director since October 2006 and has also served as a non-executive director of Aspen UK since December of the same year. Glyn is the Chairman of Towry Holdings Limited and was recently appointed as Chairman of BT Pension Scheme Management Ltd. He also served as Chairman of Hermes Fund Managers from July 2008 to May 2011, and was most recently CEO of Thames River Capital. From 2000, he served as CEO of Gartmore Investment Management in the UK for four years. Before this, Glyn was Chief Executive of Coutts NatWest Group and Coutts Group – joining in 1997 – with responsibility for strategic leadership, business performance and risk management. In 1991 Glyn had joined Standard Chartered where he become the General Manager of Global Private Banking. He was a consulting partner with Coopers & Lybrand/Deloitte Haskins & Sells Management Consultants from 1981 to 1990.

Chris O'Kane
Chris has been our CEO and a director since June 2002. He was also CEO of Aspen UK until January 2010 and Chairman of Aspen Bermuda until December 2006. Before creating Aspen Holdings, Chris served as a director of Wellington and Chief Underwriting Officer of Lloyd’s Syndicate 2020 from November 2000 until June 2002. It was here that he built his specialist knowledge in property insurance and reinsurance, together with active underwriting experience in a range of other insurance disciplines. Prior to Wellington, Chris served as one of the underwriting partners for Syndicate 2020 from September 1998 until November 2000. This role followed five years as a deputy underwriter for Syndicate 51 from 1993 to 1998. Chris began his career as a Lloyd’s broker.

Julian Cusack
Julian has been our Chief Risk Officer since January 2010. He was our COO from May 2008 to January 2010, and has been a director since June 2002. Julian is also CEO of Aspen Bermuda and was appointed Chairman of Aspen Bermuda in December 2006. He served as our CFO for five years after the company was founded and as Finance Director of Aspen UK from 2002 until 2004. Before joining us, Julian worked with Wellington as Managing Director of Wellington Underwriting Agencies Ltd from 1992 until 1996. And in 1994 he joined the Board of Directors of Wellington Underwriting Holdings Limited. He also became Group Finance Director of Wellington Underwriting plc from 1996 to 2002. Julian is a director and audit committee member of Hardy Underwriting Bermuda Limited, and a director of Parhelion Capital Limited and Parhelion Underwriting Limited.

Albert Beer
Al has been a director since February 2011 as well as the Michael J Kevany/XL Professor of Insurance and Actuarial Science at St John’s University School of Risk Management since 2006. Before this, he held various senior executive positions at American Re-Insurance Corporation (Munich Re America) from 1992. From 1989 until 1992 Al took various roles at Skandia America Reinsurance Company (now Odyssey Re), including time as Chief Actuary. He has been a member of the Actuarial Standards Board – which sets standards for the actuarial profession in the US – since 2008 and its Chair since 2010. Al has also been a director of the Casualty Actuary Society since 2008 and the Vice-Chair of United Educators Insurance Company since 2006. He previously served as a member of the Board of the American Academy of Actuaries and the Actuarial Foundation, where he has been a trustee emeritus since 2009.

John Cavoores

John has been a director since October 2006. He was also our Co-CEO of Aspen Insurance from October 2010 to January 2012, focusing on casualty and professional lines and US property businesses with executive oversight for the US platform. John spent four years as an advisor to Blackstone from September 2006 until March 2010. During 2006 he was a Managing Director of Century Capital, a Boston-based private equity firm. He previously served as President and CEO of OneBeacon Insurance Company, a subsidiary of the White Mountains Insurance Group, from 2003 to 2005 – two years after he was first employed by the company. John served as President of National Union Insurance Company, a subsidiary of AIG Inc, and spent 19 years at Chubb Insurance Group as Chief Underwriting Officer, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of overseas operations. John served as a director of Cyrus Reinsurance Holdings from 2007 to 2009 and is currently a director of Alliant Insurance Holdings.

Ian Cormack
Ian has been a director since September 2003 and a non-executive director of Aspen UK since the same year. From 2000 until 2002 he was CEO of AIG Inc’s insurance financial services and asset management division in Europe. And from 1997 to 2000, he was Chairman of Citibank International plc and Co-Head of the Global Financial Institutions Client Group at Citigroup. He was also Country Head of Citicorp in the UK from 1992 until 1996. Ian is a director of Phoenix Group Holdings Ltd (previously Pearl Group Ltd), Phoenix Life Holdings Ltd and Qatar Financial Centre Authority. He serves as a non-executive chairman and audit committee member of Maven Income and Growth VCT 4 plc. His other current positions include Chairman of Entertaining Finance Ltd and Carbon Reductions Ltd, as well as Deputy Chairman of Qatarlyst. Ian was previously Chairman of CHAPS, a member of the Board of Directors of Clearstream (Luxembourg), Bank Training and Development Ltd, Klipmart Corp, and a member of Millennium Associates AG’s Global Advisory Board. Ian was previously a non-executive director of MphasiS BFL Ltd (India), Europe Arab Bank Ltd, Pearl Assurance, London Life Assurance, National Provident Insurance and National Provident Life. He was a member of the UK Chancellor’s City Advisory Panel from 1993 to 1998.

Heidi Hutter
Heidi has served as a non-executive director of Aspen and Aspen UK since June 2002. And in February 2008 she was appointed as a director and Chair of AMAL. Heidi has also served as CEO of Black Diamond Group LLC since 2001 and Manager of Black Diamond Capital Partners since 2005. She began her career in 1979 with Swiss Reinsurance Company in New York, where she specialised in finite reinsurance. Heidi went on to become Project Director for the Equitas Project at Lloyd’s for two years from 1993 – this became the largest run-off reinsurer in the world. From 1996 to 1999 she then served as CEO of Swiss Re America until 1999 and was a member of the Executive Board of Swiss Re in Zurich. Heidi was previously a director of Aquila Inc and Talbot Underwriting, including related corporate entities. She currently serves as a director of Amerilife Group LLC and United Prosperity Life Insurance Company.

Richard Bucknall
Richard has been a director since July 2007, as well as a director of Aspen UK since January 2008, and a director of AMAL since February 2008. He retired from Willis Group Holdings Limited where he was Vice Chairman from February 2004 until March 2007 and Group COO from January 2001 to December 2006. While at Willis, he served as director on various boards and was previously Chairman/CEO of Willis Limited from May 1999 to March 2007. He is currently non-executive Chairman of FIM Services Limited and non-executive Chairman of the XIS Group (Ins-Sure Holdings Limited, Ins-Sure Services Limited, London Processing Centre Ltd and LSPO Limited). Richard was a director of Kron AS and is a non-executive director of Tokio Marine Europe Insurance Limited and a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Liaquat Ahamed
Liaquat has been a director since October 2007. He has a background in investment management spanning leadership roles that include heading the World Bank’s investment division. Liaquat has been an adviser to the Washington based investment firm Rock Creek Group since 2004. From 2001 to 2004 he was CEO of Fischer Francis Trees & Watts Inc – a subsidiary of BNP Paribas specialising in institutional single and multi-currency fixed income investment portfolios. Liaquat is a director of the Rohatyn Group and related series of funds, and a member of the Board of Trustees at the Brookings Institution.

Peter O'Flinn
Peter has been a director since April 2009. He currently serves as a director and audit committee member of Euler ACI Holdings Inc, as well as Sun Life Insurance and Annuity Company of New York. Peter was Co-Chair of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene and MacRae (now Dewey & LeBoeuf) from 1999 to 2003.

Ron Pressman

Ron worked at General Electric (GE) Corporation for 30 years, where his most recent role President and CEO of GE Capital Real Estate. During this time he led one of the world’s largest and most diversified commercial real estate finance and investment firms, with a presence in 35 countries and a portfolio of more than $85 billion in assets. Ron also served as President and CEO of GE Asset Management and Chairman, and CEO and President of Employers Reinsurance. Earlier in his career Ron led GE’s Energy businesses in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Southwest Asia and the United States. He now serves as Chairman of the national board of A Better Chance, a non-profit organisation which provides leadership development opportunities for children of colour in the US. Ron is also a director of Pathways to College, a non-profit organisation that prepares young people from deprived communities for college. His most recent appointment was on the board of New York Life Insurance Company.
